I’m not big on spoilers (ask Rickey over at Riding With Rickey or Adam at The Jack Sack about the finale for 24‘s Season 6 and they’ll explain), but I can’t help myself with Lost.
I think that’s because the producers are really good about letting big tidbits slip out that don’t spoil the viewing, because the show’s frankly far too complicated to let a little rumor about who’s appearing in the final season to ruin the ending.
So I read several posts about the Lost panel at Comic Con and found out some really fun bits that serve only to make me want it to start NOW. As in, right this very frakkin’ minute. Except I don’t, because that would mean it would all be over too soon..
If you don’t want to know anything and are assiduously avoiding spoilers, then don’t click through. If you do, haven’t read other updates yet or just want to hear my thoughts on the matter, click away.
First off, Charlie and Boone will reappear. This makes a lot of sense to me. This is the last season, we need to know how and why everyone fit in to the picture. Shannon? (And if she does reappear, what’s Sayid gonna do?)
We’ll get Richard Alpert’s back story. Yessss!!!!!! Of course we are, because as sadistic as Cuse & Lindelof are, they do want to fill in all the blanks. How old is Richard? Why is he so old? Is it really true that he doesn’t wear eyeliner? All will be revealed.
How was the Dharma food drop coordinated? We’ll find out. Despite the fact that the Dharma story has been told, they told convention-goers, all of us who’ve been wondering since Season 2 about that food drop will get our answer.
Faraday is dead, but we’ll still see him (and Juliet) in the final season. It’s still a bit unclear what’s up with Juliet. Some previews they showed seemed to indicate that the reset worked, but I’m not sure that they’re not throwing some misdirection our way.
And what would a reset even mean? If the future never happened the way we saw it happen, how could the reset happen? And if the reset didn’t happen, then how could it happen? Wait. I just gave myself a headache. I’m fully aware part of this paragraph made no sense.
Kate didn’t kill her father, she killed some random innocent man who came to the house when she tried to kill her dad. But, again, is this misdirection? Her mother sure as heck seemed to treat her as if she’d killed her dad.
OK, so I’m not really sure about anything except for Charlie & Boone, because that makes sense. And Alpert’s backstory and the food drop. Everything else? Misdirection. Or not. Hell, maybe it’s all true, and everything reset and we find out – oh, hell, I have NO IDEA what we’re gonna find out.
No more time travel, no more flash backs (except for finding out whatever’s up with Richard’s background), just answers.
I can’t wait.
