I thought when Dean sent the wee little Cole off into the sunset, we were done with that circus peanut.
Apparently not!
(Dean does not judge potential porn peeping. And that is why we love him.)
Dean has found a case, Sammy wants to stay and research Mark of Cain cures, but Dean insists. As he should. He then drops this little nugget as he spies Sammy googling away on his phone as they drive to the case:
So, Sammy puts away his phone and they focus on the case at hand, one that is particularly EWWWy by the way. Cole just happens to be friends with one of the victims, Kit, an Army vet. Cole figured this was their kind of thing, and he’s there to keep the Winchesters from killing Kit. Fair enough, even though he is pretty snarky about the whole thing.
Until he gets infected by the very same worm thing, via Kit, and then suddenly, Cole Gets It.
When will everyone understand, ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE WINCHESTERS. (Well, most of the time. No one’s perfect!)
Dean stays with Cole as they try the sweat house approach to flushing out the little beastie, while Sammy goes back to town to keep an eye on Kit’s wife, Jemma, as Kit has scurried away during some Cole related shenanigans.
Anyhoo!! Like with any red-blooded human, and a few cold-blooded monsters, spending any extended period of time with Dean Winchester turns you into a fan. Even as Cole struggles to keep himself from chomping himself a piece of Dean-o, he is swayed to the Winchester side of things. OF COURSE HE IS, HE IS ONLY A LITTLE CIRCUS PEANUT. HE CAN’T REPEL THE POWERFUL LURE OF DEAN WINCHESTER.
Meanwhile, Sam is being Sammy, and after comforting Jemma, he tussles with Kit, killing him just as Dean and Cole banish the worm from Cole’s wee little body. Dean calls Sam to tell him the good news literally minutes too late. And we get the first big, clangy anvil of the night: No matter how good your intentions, no matter how hard you fight, sometimes you don’t save the life. Sam is more upset than usual at the outcome of this hunt, feeling more and more desperate in his search for a way to save Dean.
Poor Sammy, he’s having a bad season. Dean is too StiffUpperLip about it all for my taste, but at least he is being honest this season about his feelings and whatnot. It is nice to have the beautiful brothers working together and being kind and thoughtful with each other. After everything they have been through, they both deserve each other’s respect. Good enough.
BTW, I like having the Winchesters on after Arrow. They make a good pair!
