This episode was where we get really dark. The first episode this season was titled “Black”, but this is where things go rotten. Rotten in a very upsetting way.
BUT FIRST!
For my friend Christian, who chastised me for not posting and/or commenting on the rare ShirtlessDean sighting in the premiere. You’re welcome.
Next, a quick HUZZAH for Supernatural making it to 200 episodes. Yet another lovely pic of the boys, from the celebration:
And lastly, before we get to the ugly, let’s all pause for a moment, and ponder the circumstances in which this awesome picture was taken. Bonus points for Crowley looking longingly at this pic while pining for Dean, and all that could have been.
All right. to the nitty gritty.
Hannah is fed up with Castiel and his quickly fading self, and so she makes a visit to the angel pokey to try and pump a now straight-jacketed Metatron into giving up if there is any CasGrace left. Cas, of course, follows her and tells Metatron blah blah blah… *sigh*
You know I love Castiel. Adore that sweet little angel, but his storyline so far is a whole lot of BLAH. The only thing interesting about Cas this week was him finding out that Dean has gone all demony. Honestly, with all that happened at the end of last season, I just assumed that Cas knew Dean’s status, so my bad, and didja see the look on Castiel’s face? Well, it only gets worse.
(Also, Metatron called Cas, “Ass-tiel”, which the 12 year-old girl living in my head thought was hilarious.)
We finally get the background dish on why Cole is so angry, and out for Dean. What Cole surely doesn’t know is that, 1) Back in 2003, Dean most likely killed Cole’s father because he was a monster, and 2) Dean is now a heartless, demon-y dick. I felt bad for Cole for about 2.5 seconds. DemonDean was right in leaving him alive, I mean, if the goal is to make his life as terrible as possible. DemonDean is just as cunning as RegularDean, just now with extra added DICK.
Ultimately, “Reichenbach” was about Sam hunting down his brother, and taking him away, presumably to the MoL den, and holding him there until he figures out how to save Dean. Sam looks more haggard than we’ve ever seen him, while Dean is chirpy and robust, with a wicked mean streak. The conversation in Metallicar, “It’s just a car, Sammy.”, was awful and heartbreaking and mean and ugly and OMG, POOR SAMMY.
I have a long history of letting everyone know how much I hate it when Sam and Dean aren’t working together, but that last scene was one of the worst things I’ve seen on this show. The utter pain Dean caused by telling his little brother that he was going to kill him… SAD FACE. *gutted*
Can’t wait to see what’s next. 🙂
