Listen, I know that every season the writers feel as though that the only way to inject some DRAMA into the show is to break up Sam and Dean. I have mentioned before that I am totally against it, but it is a thing, so I must endure. But here’s the thing… this time I think they TOTALLY earned it. I can’t remember the last time I was on Sam’s side when a break up occurred, and I felt like Dean leaving was probably the best thing. For now (and this was before I saw the awesome previews for next week’s episode).

I mean, the very last thing I want is for Sammy to die, yet again, but this time, Dean probably should have just let him go. Sammy was at peace about it, and it really wasn’t Dean’s place to make that decision this time. So, we ended up with a good twist: Ezekial was not the lovely angel selflessly helping Sam recover, but is Gadreel, a desperate angel clinging to any hope of redemption, no matter what he has to do to get it. Being directed by Metatron. Not the best choice of angel to have knocking around in your vessel.

So, when Sammy is rescued by Crowley – which, how awesome was that? – and he realizes that Kevin died because of Dean’s selfish choices, well, that’ s about all Sam can bear. And I agree! It’s so weird, as I am almost always on Dean’s side.

Anyway, having Crowley actually help without shenanigans was good, and we got a nice little set-up with Abadon and the campaign for Hell’s minions. A campaign! Crowley is gonna be so good at this.

And it looks like we will get a Dean and Crowley pairing that will most likely be fun, and probably horrifying in some unexpected way. Can’t wait!

Last but not least, Castiel seems to be left holding the Sammy bag. It will be nice to see these two attempt to get a relationship going, as we have had the Dean and Castiel romance take front and center for so long.

All good and fantastic. Except in my area there is a college basketball game on the CW, so I have to wait until 1am or so to see this next episode. Jerks.
