I have been rah-rah-ing for this show since the beginning, and I am back to rah-rah again. I am like a dog with a bone, y’all!
I understand ABC tried with this show (sorta), but things were looking grim at the end of season 2, so grim that even the jokey title card wondered if this was a season or series finale. Well, thanks to TBS, it was just the end of being disrespected (sorta) by ABC, and is being given a new life, beginning tomorrow (Jan. 8th) at 10pm.
I was felled by a cold this weekend, and had the opportunity to lay about and watch the final six episodes of last season, and I gotta say, the show was just as funny as I remembered. This is one of the few sitcoms where I actually laugh out loud at the jokes. And as far as the title, the most unfortunate title, I beg of you, just ignore it, everyone involved with the show wishes you would. It hasn’t been relevant since half-way through the first season, when the show runners figured out that this is an ensemble buddy show, not a show about older women and younger men. It’s a show that pays tribute to the giant wine glass that fell to its doom! It’s a show that posits that a “cakewalk” isn’t something that’s easy, but HARD (walking with cake is HARD). Where “fat chance” means a good chance (unlike “slim chance”, which means what you think it means).
Anyway, I’m excited to have one of my favorite shows back on the air, I hope you give it a try.
