By Stu Robinson,
In addition to blogging Hawaii Five-0 for the TV Tyrant, I’m also a longtime volunteer for the Phoenix Film Festival. The two roles were unrelated – until yesterday morning when the festival announced that Tom Sizemore, who plays Honolulu Police Capt. Vince Fryer on H50, would appear at a screening of his movie Slumber Party Slaughter.
The film, which also features Ryan O’Neal (Paper Moon, Love Story) and Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds), will screen tomorrow, March 31, at 9:40 p.m., and Wednesday, April 4, at 9:10 p.m. as part of the PFF’s late-night International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival. Sizemore is expected to attend the Saturday night showing.
The PFF also includes Searching for Sonny, in which the title role is played by Masi Oka – who portrays oddball coroner Max Bergman on H50. The cast also includes Jason Dohring (who not only appeared on Ringer, Supernatural and Veronica Mars but also played opposite H50‘s Alex O’Loughlin on Moonlight), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) and – of special interest to the TV Tyrant – Michael Hogan (who played Col. Saul Tigh on Battlestar Galactica and has done guest spots on Smallville and Supernatural). The film will screen today, March 30, at 3:25 p.m.; tomorrow, March 31, at 5:50 p.m.; and Sunday, April 1, at 9:55 a.m.
The Phoenix Film Festival runs through Thursday at the Harkins Scottsdale 101, at Scottsdale Road and Mayo Drive in northern Phoenix.
